Suba cooks French

I just saw "Julie and Julia" and realized that the closes I have ever come to cooking French food is to bake a quiche. I have never done anything else French. Wow! why is that? That's crazy. I must try cooking something else besides quiche.
So after the movie...I was inspired to bake some fish in a white wine butter sauce. I even used the same pan to saute the mushroom to make my sauce. Anyways, I drove to the store after the movie, and bought my ingredients. Drove home like a manic...dying of anticipation to start cooking like Julia Childs.
I sauted some wild mushrooms in butter and white wine. Wrapped it with tilapia and poured more sauce over it, garnished it with some fresh taragone from Janel and Flip Lamonica's herb garden and baked it. Simple and could not get any simpler. For my sides, roasted brussel sprouts, and homegrown cherry tomatos (from the Lamonicas) with some chopped basil. And of course to use my hands...i had some french roll so i can tear bread like the french do and dip the bread in my white wine sauce. So yummy, so Julie and so Julia...yet so simple.

I must say, I cooked a perfect French Sunday evening meal. Bina enjoyed the smell from the oven too.

For those of you who have not seen Nora Ephron's "Julie and Julia", please see it. Its delightful and i think everyone who loves the art of cooking will love the movie.
